The [http://weather.ap.polyu.edu.hk/ "Hong Kong Community Weather Information Network"] is a collaborative effort of the Hong Kong Observatory, the Department of Applied Physics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Joint-school Meteorological Association. The aim of the Network is to gather weather information from automatic weather stations of its school and community members, carry out data quality assurance and make available the weather information on the Internet for use by the public. Other schools and organizations from the community interested in joining the Network are most welcome.
The Hong Kong Observatory gives professional advice on the installation and maintenance of the automatic weather stations, and provides technical assistance in the setting up of the Network’s website.The Department of Applied Physics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is responsible for the establishment of the Network’s website, its day-to-day operation and assisting members in the operation of their automatic weather stations. Looking ahead, all three parties concerned will continue to cooperate closely in the development of educational packages and organizing weather related activities for schools and the community.
